Have a Headache?

There are few things in life as restricting as a debilitating headache. When it strikes, it can leave you feeling helpless, isolated, and robbed of the simple pleasures of life. These types of headaches extend beyond the realm of a typical headache or minor annoyance. Their severity can disrupt your everyday routine, hamper your productivity, and notably diminish your quality of life. Rather than a simple ache, these intense headaches may be accompanied by a range of other symptoms. Here are two effective ways of combatting a debilitating headache that can help get you back on track and recapture the enjoyment and vitality of life that they’ve overshadowed.

Headaches commonly stem from an excess of tension within the head. By cooling the head and warming the body, blood flows from the head and eases the pressure. Below are two techniques to relieve tension within the head. Both methods are highly effective and can be used for all types of headaches. Over-the- counter pills can be reduced or eliminated.

Method #1.

Enter the shower, making sure to keep your head outside the water flow. Gradually increase the temperature of the water until it is as hot as you can handle. Move your body from front to back to increase your body’s temperature.

After several minutes, decrease the temperature to the coldest setting you can handle. The colder the better. Once more, move your body from front to back to lower your body’s temperature. Remember to keep your head out of the water. If you can tolerate a few minutes of cold, fantastic! If not, endure it for as long as possible. The longer you persist with cold water, the more potent the treatment.

Repeat the above steps six to seven times, ending with heat. When you finish showering, ensure your body temperature is comfortable. Relax and unwind by watching a movie, reading a book, or taking a nap while sitting upright or in a semi-reclined position. This will help to prevent the tension from returning.

Method #2.

Before beginning, gather a warm blanket, a book or movie, a basin of hot water, and an ice pack (preferably a ziplock bag filled with ice cubes.) Begin by soaking your feet in the hot water and placing the ice pack on your head. Use the ice pack to cool your head by moving it around. Use the blanket to keep your body warm.

If the headache persists, you can repeat the above process. If the headache is gone, then the treatment is complete!

While debilitating headaches can be daunting and burdensome, they don’t have to dictate the course of your life. Understanding how to use these techniques can significantly help reduce their grip on your life. Remember to stay hydrated and well rested. Visit our blog again soon for more amazing tips like this.
